CHAIRMAN and Chief Instructor of the Guyana Karate College (GKC), Master Frank Woon-a-Tai, a 9th Degree Black Belt, who is also the Founder and Chairman of the world karate umbrella organisation – the International Karate Daigaku, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, recently met with leading and respected business figure Dr Yesu Persaud, Chairman of the Demerara Distillers Limited Group of Companies.
Kancho Woon-a-Tai, in addition to thanking Dr Persaud for the kind corporate support extended over time to the GKC, briefed him of the significant strides being made by the GKC, including the recent accolade of producing the youngest shodan (black belt) holder across the world Tyler Orderson at just seven years old, and the youngest nidan (2nd degree black belt) globally, Alliyah Wong, at ten years old.
The construction of the new GKC headquarters and dojo at Liliendaal, and preparations for attendance by a GKC team at the upcoming world tournament scheduled for Toronto in July of this year, were also on the agenda.
