Man who did not adhere to previous caution remanded
A FIFTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD MAN, who did not adhere to being of good behaviour after his previous court appearance, was remanded to prison yesterday on two charges. Norbert Lamazon (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and pleaded not guilty to the having, on March 30, unlawfully assaulted Corain Edwards and damaged a top, valued $1,500 that she was wearing.
Police Sergeant, Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, said the defendant and virtual complainant have been living together for 15 years but, that day, Lamazon accused his reputed wife of having a relationship outside their home and an argument ensued, during which he grabbed her and tore her top.
The prosecutor said, later in the day, the woman’s daughter told her that the defendant spat in the food she had cooked and took a five gallons bucket of water and soaked his wife’s bed.
The prosecutor objected to bail on the ground that the defendant was before the court on a similar charge and was reprimanded.
Lamazon told the court he did not damage his wife’s top and when he took out his food, it was sour, but he did not spit in it.
He claimed he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The magistrate asked the defendant if he could remember when she gave him a chance on the last occasion and told him to be of good behaviour.
He responded in the affirmative and claimed that, because he lives in the virtual complainant’s house, she takes advantage of him.
Lamazon was refused bail until May 21.
