Bonded for spitting on man who ignored question

CLAYMONT Hoyte (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday, on charges of assault and threatening behaviour. He pleaded guilty to the March 31 assault on Nathan Eversley and was put on a one year bond for that offence but he pleaded not guilty to the threatening behaviour, also to Eversley, the same day and was ordered to post $10,000 bail until May 15.
Police Sergeant Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was at a shop when the defendant asked him something and, having been ignored, the latter became annoyed and cuffed Eversley several times and threatened him.
Hoyte told the court that he and the virtual complainant had a verbal misunderstanding and the man spat on him.
That is why he assaulted him, Hoyte said.
