SHELDON Forde was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment yesterday, after he admitted, to Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry that he stole 150 feet of telephone cable belonging to the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T). The prisoner (no address given) pleaded guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on March 27, at Thomas Lands, Georgetown, he stole 150 feet of cable valued $160,000.
The defendant told the court that he had debts and he had no money to repay them.
He also revealed that he previously served a one year sentence on a similar charge.
