AS President Donald Ramotar settles into the presidency, he is exhibiting daily to the nation at large, that he understands the serious responsibilities of his office, and is prepared to uphold those, in keeping with his Oath of Office. For those who had questioned his ability to be his own man, his daily pronouncements and visits to key development sites around the nation, underlines a chief executive who is fully au fait with the dynamics of national development, and the type of leadership necessary at this critical phase of the nation’s existence.
And he is coping well, given his very heavy schedule, as he mixes his domestic demands with those of a lighter shade.
As to dealing with the opposition, he has them covered, so to speak. Maybe, they thought that their bulldozing tactics, full of political subterfuge, would have overwhelmed a man, who although he never held a cabinet post prior to being president, according to an APNU chieftain, has not faltered as he zealously guards his stewardship.
Based on his public statements, he is prepared to lay bare all the facts pertinent to development projects that his government would have undertaken thus far.
Finally, his recent visits to key projects such as the EDWC Hope Canal and that of the Amaila Falls Hydropower signal that he and his government intends to be held accountable for the nation’s development.
