UCCCI elects new executive officers

BUSINESSMAN and proprietor of Intercity Taxi Service and City Inn, Mr. Krishnand Jaichand was elected President of Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCCI), at a recent general members meeting. He replaced Mr. Vishnu Doerga who had been President, a media release from the Chamber said.
Doerga, of Venu Shopping Centre, was elected Secretary of the UCCCI at the same meeting.
Mr. Ganesh Gangadin, of the Shell Service Station, was chosen Vice- President while the other office-bearers are Mr. Harry Ghaness, Manager of the Republic Bank, Corriverton Branch, Treasurer and Mr. Imran Badrudeen, of Demerara Bank Limted, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
The eight committee members are Mr. Hamant Narine of Deckers Stationery; Mr. Asrafally Yakub, of SWISS; Mr. Mohindra Persaud, of Nand Persaud & Company Ltd; Mr. Joseph Rayappen, of Avon Sales; Mr. Kumar Dudnath, of Kumar Hardware Store; Mr. Abraham Subnauth, of TATOIL; Mr. Shewpaul Roopnarine, of S. Paul Roopnarine Engineering Est. and Mr. Nandraney Kishun, of R.L. Kishun Machinery Importers.
Members of the Chamber also elected a five member Board of Trustees and an Auditor.
The release stated that the objective of the UCCCI is to continue the promotion of development in trade and commerce nationally and internationally and work with Government, as well as other Private Sector agencies in order to protect the Private Sector and achieve the goal in developing the Upper Corentyne area.
UCCCI, a member of the Private Sector Commission (PSC) and Association of Regional Chambers of Commerce (ARCC), has grown in membership, to 70, of which eight are corporate companies.
