Man gets three years jail term for one gram cocaine

SADICK Mohamed (no address given) was, on Friday last, sentenced to 36 months imprisonment, together with a fine of $60,000 after he was found with one gram of cocaine. The defendant admitted to the charge, when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Particulars of the charge stated that on March 14, he had one gram of cocaine in his possession.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said on the day in question police were on mobile patrol when they stopped and searched the defendant.
He said the substance was found in the defendant’s hand and he was taken to Brickdam police station where the substance was weighed and tested and amounted to one gram of cocaine.
