– Man in custody
A MAN is in police custody after ranks retrieved an unlicensed gun and ammunition he had thrown into some bushes at Mowasie Backdam, Potaro on Thursday. Police reported that, at about 16:15hrs on Thursday, ranks of a roving mobile police patrol conducted a search on a mining camp at Mowasie Backdam.
As the police approached the camp, a man was seen throwing an object into the bushes. It was retrieved and found to be a .38 Taurus revolver with six matching rounds.
Police also found 875 grams of cannabis sativa (marijuana) in the camp during a further search. The man has been arrested and will be charged shortly.
