Father charged with threatening daughters on $30,000 bail

A MAN appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with using threatening language and behaving in a threatening manner towards his two daughters. Brian Singh (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the charges, which said he committed the offences on March 5 and the virtual complainants are Subrina Singh and Juliann Avela.
Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant went home under the influence of alcohol and ordered the sisters to move out and put their clothes outside the house.
But, when the siblings were leaving, he threatened to slit Subrina’s throat with a knife and went after Avela with a hacksaw, causing them to become afraid, the prosecutor said.
However, Singh, in tears, told the court that, because he would, usually,  quarrel with his daughters for coming home late, they made the allegation against him.
He was put on $30,000 bail until March 14.
