A WOMAN, from Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore, at Sparendaam Court, East Coast Demerara, yesterday, charged with illegally diverting electricity. Debra Gomes pleaded not guilty to the offence she is alleged to have committed within the month of January, 2012.
Police Sergeant Bernard Brown, prosecuting, said the defendant had an illegal connection from the Guyana Power & Light (GPL) cable to her home in Sophia.
Gomes made an application for bail and it was granted in the sum of $10,000, pending her return for trial on March 16.
