CHISTOPHER Persaud, 34, of Lot 98 South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday, charged with unlawful wounding. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on February 2, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kumar Dhanpat.
Police Sergeant, Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, said, that day, two relatives of the defendant and virtual complainant were fighting and Persaud and Dhanpat intervened to part the fight.
The prosecutor said, in the process, the defendant cuffed the virtual complainant to his mouth causing injury.
Persaud was granted $60,000 bail until March 6.
