Region Three releases programme for Mash 2012

THE Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) Administration has announced that activities to commemorate Mash 2012 will commence on Monday, January 16, 2012 with a “Spelling B” competition for primary schools, slated for the Leonora Technical Institute commencing at 09:00hrs. This was disclosed yesterday following a meeting with members of the regional “National Events Committee” headed by Jaidev Dudhnath, Regional Chairman, Julius Faerber, and Regional Executive Officer, Paul Ramrattan.
Other activities include an Essay Competition for secondary school students, an Impromptu Speech Competition for head teachers of secondary schools across the region, and a Mash Concert to be staged at Uitvlugt Community Centre.
Dudhnath also announced that the Melody King and Melody Queen competitions would be held in Wakenaam and Leguan respectively at dates to be confirmed within a week.
Dudhnath, who is also the Regional Information Officer, stated that the region would take part in the National Costume and Float Parade billed for February 23, 2012 in Georgetown.
Meanwhile, preparations are being put in place to host the semi-finals of the Adult Calypso Competition billed for the Wales Community Centre ground on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
