Jamaican team to investigate former top cop to arrive shortly

THE investigating team from Jamaica that will be assisting the Criminal Investigation Department here with investigations into rape allegations made against Police Commissioner, Henry Greene is expected to arrive in Guyana shortly. Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, at a post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday, said that these external officers, along with ranks of the CID, will be working in conjunction to ensure the conduct of an objective investigation.
This will see the subsequent conclusion of a report which will be presented to the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Dr. Luncheon said that the entire procedure is expected to be completed by the end of this month or early next month.
“The investigations have to be carried out; you are innocent until proven guilty,” the HPS said.
Since the allegations made by a 34-year old woman, the Commissioner has proceeded on leave to facilitate the investigations.
