THE man who, allegedly, strangled his reputed wife to death two weeks ago, was remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Thursday last. Michael Anthony Persaud, 22, of Lot 8 North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, is charged with murdering Madhuri Padumdeo on December 22.
Police Corporal Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, told the court the accused and the deceased were seen by neighbours fighting in the yard outside their home, but he later took the woman inside the house.
The prosecutor said, around 11:00 hrs that day, the victim’s employer went to her residence to enquire why she did not show up for work and found the couple in bed, with a length of red and white wire wrapped around her neck.
The police were alerted and Persaud was arrested.
