Landlord charged with threatening woman tenant remanded

TONY Etwaroo (no address given) was remanded to prison last Thursday, on a charge of threatening his tenant. He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on December 14, he threatened Michelle Barnwell, causing a breach of the peace.
Police Corporal Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, informed the court that the defendant is the landlord of the virtual complainant and, that day, he went home and found his padlock on the ground, became annoyed and began to abuse the woman.
The prosecutor said the defendant told Barnwell that he would burn the house down with her inside and she became fearful and reported the threat.
Etwaroo will make his next court appearance on January 6, 2012.
