Security cameras identifies juveniles on joint burglary charges

TWO juveniles, who face four joint charges of break and enter and larceny, have both been remanded to the juvenile centre, by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at Albion Court. The 16-year-old, who gave his address as Rose Hall Town and the other, 15, who claimed to be living at Manchester Village, both at Corentyne, Berbice, are charged with  having:
* during the month of August, broken and entered the dwelling house of Esther Sampson of Rose Hall Town and stole a Panasonic 32’ Plasma television valued $115,000 and a DVD player worth $15,000;
* on August 23, also in the Corentyne township, broken and entered the dwelling house of Jean Ramdhan and stole a quantity of household items and electrical appliances worth $1,501,035;
* between November 16 and 17, at Williamsburg, Corentyne broke and entered the barber shop of Leon Abdul and stolen a DVD player, two hair-cutting machines, valued $76,000 and
* on the same dates, at Williamsburg, stolen, from the boutique of Sharon Lester a bottle of ‘Perrry Ellis’ perfume, a pack of Hanes vests, a ‘Guess’ perfume set, a pair of grey ‘American Eagle’ jeans and $400,000 cash, making a total loss of $487,000.
The two teens pleaded guilty to the last two charges and the magistrate ordered a probation report into their background.
Police Corporal, Roberto Figuiera, prosecuting, said the owners of the barber shop and the boutique shared a building which housed their separate businesses that they had secured but returned the following day to discover the padlocks and hasp and staples destroyed and the items missing.
The prosecutor said the business places are fitted with security cameras and the burglars were identified by their images.
In answer to the magistrate, the 15-year-old begged for a chance, saying he wanted to return to secondary school and his accomplice expressed regret over the burglaries
However, with respect to the crimes alleged in August, the lads pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of $250,000 and $100,000, respectively.
