Beacon going all out to stop Fruta

WHEN all is said and done, who will get closer to the top prize of G$3M in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)-organised, Banks DIH/Banks Beer-sponsored Football Festival will be decided at the conclusion of the semifinals this evening at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
Beacon Football Club who have gained their place in the final four, will go up against a young and skilful Fruta Conquerors side, while Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United and Sunburst Camptown will meet in the other semifinal.
Speaking with Chronicle Sport, Beacon head coach Cornel Millington indicated that his side have taken each game seriously and will no doubt be doing the same this evening, after getting so close to the top prize in the tournament.
Noting that other commitments and the weather forced their preparations to be adjusted, Millington said his team are all ready to hit home the Tucville side, with all the firepower they possess in their armory.
To this effect, Beacon will rely on the legs and skills of Phillip Rowley, Paul Giles, Jerome Richardson, Daniel Favorite, Mikhail Stuart, Rensford Coleridge and Orville Milton, with Keith Fraser executing duties between the uprights.
While saying he was not satisfied with his team’s performance to date, knowing that they can play a better brand of football, Fruta Conquerors coach Sampson Gilbert, said the chemistry his team possess has brought them through thus far in the inaugural tournament.
He lamented that their physical and tactical preparation and execution have not been up to par but assured of a quality performance coming up against Beacon tonight.
“We have worked on corrective measures and our shortcomings in the past matches and the unit will definitely bring reward to themselves and the club when they face Beacon tonight, with execution being the key for this encounter.”
His lineup will include the versatile Pernell Schultz, Dwayne Lawrence, Trevon Lythcoth, Eon Alleyne, Kwame La Fleur, Jomo Hinds, Odell Williams, Joylyn Harry and Jermaine Junor among others.
Apart from the first place cash prize, the second-, third- and fourth-place finishers will pocket $1.5M, $750 000 and $250 000 respectively, while several individual prizes will be up for grabs in the tournament which is being co-sponsored by Courtney Benn Contracting Services, McNeal Enterprises and Coalpot Restaurant.
