Man charged with forgery of bail application documents

A MAN was remanded to prison yesterday on a charge of conspiring with others to forge bail application documents from the Supreme Court. Kwame Langhorne (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, charged, indictably, with having, on November 24, conspired, together with persons unknown to forge two documents purporting to be issued by the Supreme Court.
He is also accused of having, on the same date, fraudulently uttered, to Travis Nedd, the forgeries purporting to be orders issued by the Supreme Court.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the accused went to the Supreme Court to make a bail application for a prisoner and, when the documents were handed to the clerk, he discovered that they were not prepared by a magistrate and immediately notified the police.
The prosecutor successfully objected to bail for Langhorne, based on the seriousness of the alleged offence and explained that the accused attempted to obtain the release of a prisoner on remand for trafficking in narcotics.
The forgery case will be called, again, on December 13.
