THE man who escaped death when gunmen opened fire on him last Monday is still in a critical condition at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
That was reported to Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry when she remanded, to prison yesterday, two men charged jointly with the shooting.
Shaka Chase and Keon Hinds (no addresses given) were not required to plea to the indictable offence, particulars of which said, on November 14, they unlawfully and maliciously wounded Dexter Johnson with intent to commit murder.
Police Sergeant, Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, informed the court that the victim is known to the accused for approximately eight years and, on that day, he was in Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, when Chase and Hinds, together with two other men approached him.
The prosecutor said the two accused began to shoot in the virtual complainant’s direction and he started to run but they gave chase and fired shots, wounding him in his abdomen.
The prosecutor successfully objected to bail for Chase and Hinds, based on Johnson’s condition, as well.
The accused must return to court on December 12.
