IT’s the time of the year, yes Christmas is around the corner, but that’s not the time I am referring to – I am making reference to the election season. The time when everyone, all of a sudden, cling onto some small political party or decide that they are the best thing for the future of our country. I think that those names and individuals are well presented to the public through the media. However, only yesterday, one individual, Dr. Simpson Da Silva, who was involved in questionable activities with the Guyana Mangrove Restoration Project (GMRP), joined the Alliance For Change (AFC). I wonder what changes would be made when the persons who are endorsing this party were involved in corruption in the past and as old people say in Guyana: “when dog ah suck egg it does be hard fuh dem stop”.

Personally, I had encounters with this man when he was the Project Coordinator of the Guyana Mangrove Restoration Project and he was involved in questionable activities with the seedling contractors.
. Under his tenure, instead of planting seedlings using seeds, which is the correct procedure,  he used to have persons pulling out seedlings from naturally grown areas and then replant. Guess what, all those seedlings died because their roots were destroyed. So it was bad management and money wasted. And now he is adding to another set of corrupt ones who have high hopes of running our dear country.
