Luncheon reports GECOM work programme progressing as planned

HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS), Dr. Roger Luncheon yesterday reported that the work programme of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), in connection with training of staff and voter education, is progressing as planned. Speaking at his usual post-Cabinet media briefing,  at Office of the President, Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown, he said the final stages of training of Elections Day staff are being completed and voter education is being unfolded as planned.
“GECOM has continued to implement the planned elements of its work programme. Importantly, the necessary goods and services needed for Elections Day have been procured by GECOM and those include Elections Day staffing, materials and other resources,” Luncheon reported.
He said GECOM’s mandate has also seen the observer missions, both local and external, being certified and suitable publicity being provided about their composition.
Luncheon said the Commission’s mandate has also seen the list of competing parties being gazetted, such as the statutory appointments of both parties equally notified, as is required by the law.
