I have decided to venture into Christopher Ram’s Column in analysing what he calls the ‘Business Page’, and his annual review of National Budgets. When I think of the ‘Business Page’, I hope to read issues regarding business generally, but then I notice Ram also writes about Guyana’s politics, particularly, against the PPP/C government; thereafter , I realised that Ram appears to be another so-called academic like Freddie Kissoon.
This comparison came to mind when I read a letter published by the Guyana Chronicle, by Peter Allen titled “The spectre of monstrosity and ugliness has risen for Halloween” on November 2, 2011. Also, I find his annual review of the National Budget biased. Ram, in attempting to review the National Budget, opposes Jagdeo and his government, instead of focusing merely on the Budget itself, as a true academic would have done.
Even though, he and his review body blatantly mocked the One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) proposal, and stated that the 2011 National Budget lacks vision, I can see that his mere intention was to express his bitterness towards the current administration. And, Ram is no economist, but he writes about Guyana’s economy without proper analysis, and yet that from the opposition seems to not oppose his nonsense.
Now that  Elections Day is near, he presents himself as a politician or more likely an opposition. One time he writes about accounts which he called ‘Business’, and next time,  he writes not about Guyana politics really, but specifically about his distaste for the Jadgeo administration. Apparently, he tried to present his message as a criticism to represent objectivity, but his uncontrollable temptation to become a part of the election, leads him astray to express his personal displeasure.
Ram should do himself justice and write more about accounting, rather than present poor analyses on Guyana’s economy to the public.  He along with others alike, should take time to do proper research, since his missives are being published for both the local and international fronts. And, it is intolerable for him to present information that is infested with bias and mediocre analytical groundings of the Guyanese economy.
