I was deeply touched when I saw the picture of that baby with her face swollen (page 14, Wednesday, November 2, 2011) and read the story in which her father related that the driver of the vehicle which struck them down, took his wife and child (after he pleaded with him ( the driver) to the hospital and went away. I write because my husband suffered a similar fate on October 11, 2011 when he was struck by a female driver whom persons at the scene identified as a magistrate. My husband was on the edge of the road in front of Bhena’s Shoe Store and had just turned eastward when he was struck by PLL 3041 on his right side, causing him to fall and resulting in him sustaining broken bones on his left instep.
The driver, I am told, was more concerned about her left side mirror which was damaged rather than with the person (my husband) whom she had struck and injured and was attempting to leave the scene, but was chided by the crowd gathered who insisted he be taken to the hospital. She subsequently dropped him to the hospital of his choice, Woodlands Hospital, and never looked back. My husband has since been incapacitated, his foot being in cast ever since.
A report of the incident was made by the family to the police at the Brickdam Police Station and they are in receipt of the vehicle number (PLL 3041).
