EDWARD B. Beharry and Company once again placed first in the commercial category of the Hindu Dharmic Sabha motorcade competition, with Regal Stationery and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness placing second and third, respectively. In the small float category the Balesar Family came third, Success Mandir placed second, while D’Edward Mandir copped the first prize.
The large category was won by the Dharmic Naujawan, with Mon Repos Shri Satyanaryan Mandir and Golden Om Dharmic Youth Group placing second and third respectively.
Andrew Arts once more won the Best Designed Float trophy.
Mon Repos Shri Satyanarayan won the prize for the Best Overall Mandir. This mandir’s displays were innovative and highly creative, with the central theme being the churning of the ocean (Samundramantan) from which Maha Lakshmi appeared, with Sheeshnaag being used to ghotay (rotate) Mount Kailash in the churning process. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were also depicted, with devas, asuras, animal and plant life, as well as the miracle cow, Kamdhenu.
President Jagdeo, PPP/C Presidential Candidate Donald Ramotar, and Prime Minister Sam Hinds presented prizes to the winners.
