$42M road to Amerindian community nearly complete
THE $42.4M Capoey road project, on the Essequibo Coast, is nearing completion, Vice-Chairman of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Vishnu Samaroo said. He spoke after he and other top officials of the regional administration inspected the work being done from the Public Road at Capoey to the Lake Top area, which is some 9,350 feet long.
According to Samaroo, the access route is to link the Capoey Amerindian Community to Lake Top, the Public Road and the commercial centre of the Anna Regina township.
The Vice-Chairman said he is pleased with the construction which is being done with loam, white sand and five inches thick crusher run surface.
Samaroo said it is 90 percent complete and, when finished, will facilitate Amerindians of Capoey to travel in comfort.
He said farmers will also be able to transport their produce to markets faster as Government has constructed a new timber bridge to link the access road near the Lake Top area.
According to him, the building of the new access road and bridge has cost the Government more than $50M and Capoey residents are very thankful, to the regional administration, too.
