CHRIS Persaud, 18, of Lot 102 Robb Street, Georgetown, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment yesterday, for break and enter and larceny.
He pleaded guilty before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, admitting that, on October 14, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Shelly McKenzie and stole one Blackberry phone valued $33,000 and $130,000 cash.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had secured her home and went out, when she received information that someone had broke into it and she returned, immediately, to find that some louvre windows and other property were missing.
The prosecutor said, on checking further, the woman found the burglar hiding under a bed and her neighbours assisted in apprehending him.
The convict disclosed that he had only recently been released from prison.
