THE 2011 East Coast Demerara Mackeson Premier League Football second round got off to a cracking start over the weekend with four teams recording victories.
On Saturday at BV Community Centre Ground, Victoria Kings thrashed Plaisance United 4-0. Veteran Winston Pompey scored a double for Kings in the 34th, and 59th minute; while Rolson Morrison and Aubrey Gibson scored in the 25th and 68th minute as the Kings dominated the game.
Pompey has so far scored 9 goals in the league while Gibson has 8. In the other encounter at the same venue BV/Triumph United hammered Anns Grove United 7-0 and reminded the other title contenders that the title race is still open.
On Sunday at Buxton Community Centre Ground, Buxton United regained some form and thumped Mahaica Determinators 5-0 in a very fast pace game.
Fellow village team Bakewell Buxton Stars also defeated Golden Stars 2-0 and signalled to Victoria Kings and BV/Triumph United that the title race may go down to the last day of the league.
