THREE men appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on Monday, charged separately, with attempting to obtain money under false pretence.
Stephen Hamilton pleaded not guilty to having, on September 28, with intent to defraud, attempted to obtain money from Leticia Joseph, by falsely pretending that he had 24.46 grammes of raw gold to sell, knowing it to be false. Rohee Ramsamujh also pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which stated that, on September 28, with intent to defraud, he attempted to obtain money from Audrey Samaroo, by falsely pretending that he had 123.8 grammes of raw gold to sell, knowing it to be false.
The charge against Anand Ramsood (no address given either) is that, on September 28, too, with intent to defraud, he attempted to obtain money from Audrey Samaroo, by falsely pretending that he had 51.03 grammes of raw gold to sell, knowing it to be false.
Ramsood pleaded not guilty, as well.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, requested that bail be set in substantial amounts with conditions attached.
The defendants were each put on $125,000 bail and they have to report to Brickdam Police Station every Friday and return to court on October 18.
