AS the only unbeaten team out of seven and leading the points standings with 12 after four games, Den Amstel are setting their sights on becoming the inaugural champions of the Trophy Stall sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) Under-17 League which is nearing completion. Not only are they in the lead but their leading marksman Andre Hector is at the top of the goal scorers list with a whopping 12 goals from four matches at an average of 3, a healthy rate by any means. He is closely followed by Uitvlugt’s Delon Lanferman with 9.
Seawall FC are also on 12 points but they have exhausted their quota of 6-matches while Eagles, based in Stewartville, are also on 12 points but only have one game in hand.
In latest play, Lanferman was in ripping form blasting the nets on five occasions to lead Uitvlugt to a crushing 6-0 win over Wales which along with Young Achievers have failed to win a game so far.

Den Amstel behind a double from Hector (13 & 45) defeated Seawall 3-1. Derron Wilson converted the other for Den Amstel in the 33rd while the consolation goal for Seawall came from Esan Nelson in the 29th minute.
Seawall rebounded had romped to a comfortable 4-0 win over Eagles before going down to Den Amstel. Nelson was their main marksman with a brace (39 & 89), Kevin Frank tucked in one in the 26th minute while the other was an own goal off the boot of Denzil Manjet in the 70th minute.
The other game played on the weekend saw Wales earning their first point of the League when they squandered a 2 goal cushion to share the points with Stewartville.
Wales had shocked Stewartville by scoring twice within a 3 minute span, Stephan Carryl (20) and Deon Smith three minutes later giving them the lead which they were able to hold on to until the 45th minute when Orlando Henry pulled one back for Stewartville.
The equaliser was netted by Rafael Grant in the 56th minute.
League action will continue today at the Den Amstel Ground from 16:00hrs with Eagles and the home team facing off in what is anticipated to be a keen tussle. On Friday from the same time, neighbours, Uitvlugt and Stewartville will be locked in battle with the final two matches of the league set for Sunday.
From 13:00hrs, Young Achievers match skills with Wales and the final match of the league will feature arch rivals Uitvlugt coming up against Den Amstel.
