THE mining sector will be under the spotlight for the next few days as Mining Week 2011 is being celebrated under the theme “Evolving Methods, Embracing Excellence, Enjoying Success.” A mining exhibition on the lawns of the Ocean View Hotel forms part of the week’s activities.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds visited and viewed the booths that demonstrate the use of safety equipment, advanced technologies and chemicals used in the mining process.
Among those participating are Repsol, Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association, Industrial Safety Supplies, Digital Surveying and Mapping, and Omai Goldmines.
The mining exhibition will conclude on Saturday.
The final activity in celebration of Mining week, Porkknockers’ Day will be staged on Saturday at Bartica in Region Seven. (GINA)
