Well-known city pharmacist Harold Rachpaul murdered

WELL-KNOWN city pharmacist Harold Rachpaul, 84, was murdered in his 75 Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown living quarters aback of the pharmacy.
Police said the proprietor of Rachpaul Drug Store was found at about 08:00 hrs, his hands tied and mouth gagged with cloth.
An unknown sum of money is reported to have been stolen from the business place, which was ransacked and a quantity of phone cards, among other items, missing.
The body is awaiting a post mortem at  the  Lyken Funeral Parlour, in Norton Street, opposite where Rachpaul opened his first pharmacy, decades ago, in a building at the junction with John Street in the Newburg ward of the city.

No one was arrested for the murder up to press time but the police are following several leads.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said there were no signs of forced entry and the crime scene is still being processed.
Son-in-law of the deceased, Roger Philip told reporters, yesterday morning, that Rachpaul, a father of five, lived alone and his wife is in the United States (U.S.).
Philip said he was not a frequent visitor to his father-in-law’s home but they spoke on the telephone because they do business.
He said the discovery of the dead man was made by Rachpaul’s eldest son, Leonard Rachpaul, who went to visit his father.
As news of the man’s death spread, scores of passersby and customers, who were going to make purchases at the pharmacy, expressed shock.
They all milled around outside while police were combing the crime scene.
Reports said several dogs in the compound were all tied except one, which was killed and, from all indications, whoever murdered the businessman, was no stranger to the premises.

Murdered: Harold Rachpaul Rachpaul’s Drug Store and home, where he was murdered.
