A FOOL and a fabricator must be exposed. One is clumsy and the other is calumnious. In the person of Mr. M. Maxwell, both the fool and the fabricator are present. In fact, I even think that the man has taken both adjectives to a lower depth, when it comes to describing a vile person. I was forced into this mode of thinking, after reading what he penned regarding the up-coming elections.
When Mr. Donald Ramotar said that, “if (December elections) (are) unavoidable because of the nature of the situation and the time of the situation then we have to have it. I don’t think it is desirable and I myself do not like it…” it was obvious to those following elections in Guyana that the man was simply stating an all-important fact.
Donald Ramotar, along with almost everyone, wants a timely election. And by intimating his displeasure with the holding of elections in December, he was not suggesting that the process be delayed, but, on the contrary, that it be held before then.
The idea of being dilatory was what and why the Presidential Candidate was ‘kicking up’ a storm.
So, M. Maxwell, was only ‘playing the fool’ by foolishly interpreting and wickedly intimating that Donald Ramotar wanted elections in 2012.
Maxwell should remember that ‘a job ill done is a job twice done.’ It is far better that GECOM take its time and ensure that all be well, before running into all kinds of snags, during the actual elections. It is better to be a few days late, but be right and in order, than be in a hurry and then create suspicions.
GECOM is an independent body, with the constitutional mandate of ensuring elections are held in a free, open and transparent way.
You, Mr. Maxwell, was one of the vanguards, saying that the reopening of the Claims and Objections period was a travesty in relation to democracy, transparency and accountability. Now you are dumb on the number of people (more than 7,000) who took advantage of that democratic and just act of wisdom.
