EDUCATION Minister Shaik Baksh has taken offence at being called a ‘liar’ in last Thursday’s edition of the controversial Kaieteur News and has announced that the matter will now be taken to court. Most Guyanese would like to see the government take these matters extremely seriously.
Ask the court that these serious matters come up in short order to let the Guyanese people and the world see what is taking place in Guyana’s media houses, where they might have too much free press to spew their vile against government. Do it and do it fast I urge, if not this cancer will eventually set in to those who are that gullible, thinking the government has things to hide.
Most Guyanese know Stabroek News and Kaieteur News are now the main opposition to government and their nefarious, slanderous agendas must be exposed for the world to see.
If serious steps are not taken to curb these new media actions, a heavy price will be paid by society.
Mr. Sharma should be sitting in a jail cell for what he did during the 2005 massive floods in Guyana when he aired a videotape of the President and Prime Minister dancing which was totally false,
Better heads prevailed and luckily the public did not take that showing of the videotape seriously, if not, many innocent Guyanese could have been really hurt.
Mr. Sharma’s intent was to create public mayhem against the President and Prime Minister.
Sharma is back in the news again, saying he was intimidated by Government to pull the show, “Keeping Them Honest”.
Mr. Sharma should come out publicly and state who in government intimidated him.
Chris Ram also should he hauled in by the authorities for claiming he knew it was President Jagdeo who called Mr. Sharma.
I, like most Guyanese are afraid that if government failed to bring these media operatives to justice, then most people will believe that government is hiding and covering unsavoury programmes.
I, like most Guyanese watched with horror how a Kaieteur News journalist became argumentative with a minister when he did not like the answer the minister gave him. The moderator of the press conference was right in calling in the presidential guards.
Bring these media operatives to justice and do it fast.
Lawlessness in the media should be dealt with
