THE final quarterfinal spots of the GT&T FastBall Tournament will be filled tonight as the round-of-16 concludes at the Mackenzie Sports Complex (MSC) ground from 18:00hrs with a Linden team in each encounter. In what is anticipated to be yet another night of intense actions, Adam’s Rockers go head- to-head with Daddy’s Enterprise in the first match then Golden Stars B clash with Pioneers in the second match at 19.00hrs.
The final two matches of the night will be the Amelia’s Ward A versus Costello Schemers and BV Triumph United against Bakewell Topp XX A at 20.00hrs and 21:00hrs, respectively.
Meanwhile, the round-of-16 began on Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground where West Demerara United, West Front Road, BK International Western Tigers A and Pele Gold advanced to the quarterfinal round.
In the West Demerara/Broad Street encounter, a 12th minute goal from Jason Critchlow was enough to humble the Georgetown opposition, while West Front Road defeated Grove 1-0 on sudden death in the penalty shootout.
BK Int’l and Ann’s Grove battled to a draw and the match was decided on sudden death penalty kicks as Tigers emerged victorious 1-0. Pele Gold and Mocha Arcadia All Stars had their match also decided by penalty kicks as Pele won 2-1.
The quarter-finals will be played on Friday, August 6 at GFC ground with the semis and the grand final at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence on Sunday, August 7.
