THE Lusignan Community Centre ground pavilion will be buzzing with activity over the next 14 days commencing tomorrow at 09:00hrs, when the 10th Annual East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) Academy gets under way.
Some 60 students are expected to report at the venue including students from eight schools within the jurisdiction of the ECCB which is run under the stewardship of Bissoondyal Singh on a daily basis for the Academy which will run from July 25 to August 5.
Some of the topics which will be taught are: The Laws of Cricket, History of West Indies Cricket, Scoring, Food and Nutrition, Road Safety, Discipline and Social Etiquette, just to mention a few, with the Minister of Education Shaik Baksh expected to deliver the feature address at the opening ceremony tomorrow.
Some of the lecturers who will be imparting their knowledge to the students over the two-week period are: Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) president Roger Harper, Ronald Williams, Claude Raphael, Penelope Harris and Daverteeth Anandjit.
At the end of the two-week course which is being coordinated by Robert ‘Pacer’ Adonis, participants will receive a Certificate of Participation, while Singh will address the gathering at the closing ceremony. (Calvin Roberts)
