NIS Board, Management takes umbrage at Guyana Chronicle article

THE Board and Management take umbrage at the unsubstantiated, reckless statement contained in the article by your staff reporter Ms P. Edwards that appeared in the Chronicle on June 18, 2011 and labelled “Elderly being robbed of National Insurance Scheme benefits”. The report is so offensive that the Board refuses to respond to its content.
The Board insists that there must be some specific effort by media practitioners before they publish articles with content such as that of the June 18.
The Board is appalled at the implicit weakness of the Editorial Board in allowing such material to be published without question.

Editor’s note-We sincerely apologise for publishing the article without proper verification of its content.
