Government’s unfailing commitment to Amerindians

IT is clear that the government is honouring its unfailing commitment to enhancing the standards of living of the Amerindian peoples. The government’s bid to procure 11,000 65W solar panel systems under the Hinterland Electrification Programme for Amerindian communities, despite the fact that the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) funding from Norway is not yet available, is truly commendable. President Bharrat Jagdeo has promised that his administration would work to improve Amerindian living conditions. It seems that this promise is gradually being fulfilled.
This is just one way in which the government has honoured its commitment to Amerindian enhancement. The current administration has also remained committed to the educational progress of Amerindians; hence, providing a cheap, reliable source of electricity is necessary to meet this need. Electricity is now a basic need for all societies, as Guyana is quickly modernizing, and none of our peoples should be left behind. In every community where groups of people reside, there should be a reliable, affordable source of electricity for them to conduct their day to day activities. It is clear that the government respects the needs of the Amerindians, as it does those of all other ethnicities, and is working to adequately meet those needs.
