I HAVE what I think is the perfect encapsulation of the tomfoolery that was unleashed unto Guyanese last Friday (June 24, 2011). It is ‘The same game, but only a different name’. In other words, PNCR and APNU are ‘one and the same’ thing. To make it even simpler, I say to all Guyanese that PNCR is really and truly APNU. Now why do I say this?
First, since 1997, the PNC has been most snake-like. It keeps ‘shedding’ its skin,’ but its ‘visceral and osseous’ (guts and bones) parts remain the same. I can put that in an even more basic way: ‘The body, soul and spirit’ of the PNC has never changed.
So the ‘name game’ continues. The ugly history reads: PPP-B-when a pesky LFS Burnham broke away from the PPP; PNC-formed and led by LFS Burnham, and then Hugh Desmond Hoyte; PNCR-with the ‘R’ suggesting (Heaven knows’) reform or re-formed; PNCR1G-yet no unity nor good came out of it; and now APNU-where a furtive use is made of WPA, NFA, GPP and GAP. So I ask: “Has anything changed?” The answer is a ‘big, fat’ NO. The PNC can never change. It keeps putting on ‘new clothing’ but I remind Guyanese that it is not the clothes/names that maketh a man. The Holy Book says, “wolves will always wear sheep’s clothing.” That is why I am sure that the vulpine PNC will devour the innocent, imbecile and naïve WPA, NFA, GPP and GAP.  But there is a second factor at stake.
The PNC, ever since its 1992 exit from office, has been dwindling. Its constituency is being taken over by the PPP/C, and it is getting desperate and frightened. So as expected, the PNC will do anything to salvage its foolish pride and continue its evil scheming (knowing very well that its end is imminent). Look how foolish and desperate the PNC is. The WPA is the most recognised party of the ‘joiners’ and at its vintage best, it was constituency-less and embarrassed. The extent of the WPA’s demise was of such proportion, that it did not contest the last election. As for the NFA, GAP, and GPP, these put together are ‘null and void.’ They represent a cipher. So the PNC is drowning, and wants all others to down the gutter with it. The WPA, NFA, GAP and GPP must all be for the PNC, but the PNC must be for itself alone. Talk about ‘morbid self love’ of the Devil! Now here is third factor, and I am bothered by the fact, that neither Clive Thomas nor Rupert Roopnarine has uttered a word about it. This third factor is one of criminality.
One of the most egregious crimes of the PNC was the assassination of Dr. Walter Rodney. This matter is still not closed. The Burnham-led PNC even had the gall to arrest and charge the brother, Donald, for this heinous act.
I can add to this the acts and episodes of rigged elections, a forced referendum, food-banning, kick-down-the door banditry, the Hope Estate subjugation, use of military might, hi-jacking the judiciary, etc. and yes, still ad infinitum. This list of criminality is something all Guyanese must be cognizant of.
I close by re-iterating my declaration: Let it be known that the PNCR is really APNU, or put it the other way; APNU is really the PNCR.  PNCR has a legacy of deviousness and has played conniver all these years.
