Murdered miner to be buried at the weekend

Murdered miner Vernon Renaldo, 22, of Hotoquai, North West District, Region One (Barima/Waini) will be laid to rest at the weekend.
His sister, Unita Renaldo, said they will transport the body via the ferry to their hometown for burial.

A post mortem performed yesterday on the body by Dr. Nehaul Singh revealed that death was caused by perforation of the spleen and kidneys through stab wounds.
Ronaldo was fatally stabbed by another man during an argument on Saturday last at his sister’s home at Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to be charged shortly.

He is said to be a friend of the deceased with whom he was drinking on Saturday morning.
A scuffle broke out and Renaldo was stabbed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
His attacker was apprehended by the
Police on the Linden/Soesdyke highway close to Moblissa.

Meanwhile, the man’s sister, her two children and her husband and brother-in-law were questioned at the Grove Police Station yesterday. They were all in the house when the incident took place.
At the one-flat concrete house on Saturday there was a pool of blood in the living room where it is believed the murder took place. The place was in disarray with furniture and clothing strewn about the room, indicating there was probably a fight.
Neighbours said the occupants, Amerindians, are from the North West District and have been renting the house for the past year, but the deceased was just visiting and had been staying at the house for the past five days after he missed the boat to North West District.
His sister, Unita, told the Guyana Chronicle that her sibling came home to visit their parents after six years.
She added that he was working in the interior at a place called Hotoquai.
