NSTC/Jumbo Jet Cup Fever gallops off this Sunday

WITH over $5m in cash and prizes and close to 70 entrants being submitted, this Sunday’s Norman Singh Turf Club (NSTC) in collaboration with Jumbo Jet Stables organized Guyana Cup Fever promises to be an exciting one for horseracing fans and enthusiasts.
Entries for the event closed off yesterday and a total of nine races is being carded for the day, with the feature race being sponsored by beverage giants Banks DIH Limited for horses classified B and Lower and covers a distance of 1200 metres with a first place prize of $600,000.

Other events include a three years old Open for horses born and bred in Guyana and the West Indies and will also cover a distance of 1200 metres, with the winner taking home $500,000, while the E and Lower event will be run over the same distance with $400,000 going to the winner.
Two (2) year old Guyana and West Indian bred horses will battle it out over 1400 metres with $300,000 going to the winner, the same amount of prize money which will be handed over to the winner of the three year old locally bred horses who will compete in the 1200 metres race.
The G and Lower, H and Lower and I and Lower classed horses will also compete on the day’s events for a prize of $300,000, $200,000 and $150,000 respectively, while the Division 1, 2 and 3 horses will battle it out for a prize of $120,000.
According to a press release from the organizers, most of the country’s top horses, including Bwana Dancer, Little Panie, Fairy Landing, Marathon Man, Better Than Gold, Sabrina’s Joy, Wicked Intrusion, Royal Salute, Super Cat and Settle in Seattle have signalled their intention to compete.
