PNCR would do everything to undermine power-sharing

IT is for the members of the PPP/C to discuss the potential of power- sharing in each aspect and it is also for us to discuss what adverse potential a situation of conflict holds for guaranteed security of our people with power-sharing. For me, the PNCR would do everything to undermine power-sharing, and generate fears and opportunistically exploit the state of government/state security relationship and play on ethnicity and “kith and kin” appeals. This will breed more insecurity. What needs to be done is to recognise  the racial problem and the implementation of certain reforms.
These reforms must pave the way for a revolutionary approach to the problems. Fundamentally, the way forward in multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural developing countries in a new socio-economic order-a national democratic state. This is a state that represents the interests of all classes, groups and social strata. It is an inclusive state. Our major groups have more in common and more that unite than divide them” the Negroes are a great people; they have been so from the earliest times” and the Indian hands… have fed us all. They are perhaps our only jewels of a true native thrift and industry”. We are indeed a great people. Our major racial groups must find the means of co-operation, including a way forward.
This I believe is the best approach to a national democratic state. This must not however, become a recipe for opportunism, vacillation and capitulation. If we are to move forward, it must creatively be applied in a concrete situation. This does not mean PPP should not find creative ways of returning to the notion of a political solution in the context of a winner-take-all formula.
