IN the Chronicle editorial on “Threats of violence”, Mr. Donald Ramotar’s comments were welcomed, when he said government is not merely about being in power, but it is primarily about taking the nation forward through development and growth that will benefit all the people of the country; and that the GoG has been achieving much progress in incremental stages as money and resources become available. These views must be read and understood by the younger generation which has no knowledge of what things were like before the 1990s. And it is up to those who know what it was like to avoid making the same mistakes. What is needed now is not going back based on promises, but forward with hope of improving what we have now. Knowing the facts with active involvement and participation in governance, politics and public life is the best way to go.
