RYAN Waddell, 19, of Timehri Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on May 23, he had a .22 pistol without a licence.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said ranks on mobile patrol, along Middle Road, La Penitence, in Georgetown, saw Waddell with a bag on his back acting in a suspicious manner.
The prosecutor said a search of the bag revealed a black and silver gun and Waddell was remanded to prison until tomorrow.
