Previously freed murder accused charged with discharging gun

FREED murder accused Compton Green, of Lot 24 Liverpool Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was refused bail and remanded to prison on Monday.
He appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, at Whim Court, Corentyne, charged with discharging a loaded firearm.
Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, said, on April 30, cane harvester Leroy Bennett and Herme Parks, a farmer, went to their watermelon farm aback of Alness, another Corentyne village, where they saw a flock of goats belonging to the defendant and their plants destroyed.
Consequently, the men founded up the animals and were in process of taking them to the pound at Whim Police Station, when the defendant demanded that they be handed over to him.
The prosecutor said Bennett and Parks refused to comply and, during the argument that ensued, the defendant drew a handgun and discharged two rounds before taking his animals.
The case will be called, again, today.
Green was previously charged with murdering Gangaram Busgit called Vicky, a butcher of Liverpool Village, Corentryne but was found not guilty by a Berbice Assizes jury.
The victim had gone to an outhouse in the yard where he lived when he was shot and died before receiving medical intervention.
