BUSINESSMAN Mark Kandhai was shot and killed by a man who posed as a customer in his shop early yesterday morning.
Kandhai, 31, of Industry, East Coast Demerara, was shot several times around 02:00hrs by a man who entered the shop and asked for a beer.
Kandhai’s wife was upstairs sleeping and was awakened by the shots. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mrs. Kandhai told the Guyana Chronicle that her husband was always a peaceful man and never had any problem before with anyone.
However, she said customers would warn her husband about opening so late. But he did so since he was paying installments on his new car.
He leaves to mourn his wife and six children, ages ranging from two to eleven years among other family members.
The shooting took place at Lot 5 Industry, Railway Embankment a few houses away from another businessman, Bedi Ramjiewan, who was gunned down some weeks ago.
