Agatash community gifted with solar lights /panels

STUDENTS from the Agatash community situated on the outskirts of Region 7 were the beneficiaries of 100 solar lamps at a cost of G$1.4M donated by SolarWatt, a Germany- based company and implemented by EEPERAMI (Regenwaldstiftung).
The donation was made last Saturday at the Agatash Primary School.

The donation is a promise fulfilled to the students, when the company visited last December.
According to Chairman of EEPERAMI, Mr. Robert Spitzer, SolarWatt recognized the need for electricity in the community and the willingness of the students to learn.

Spitzer said the solar company has been sponsoring the solar project in Guyana for the past six years, where they installed the first 1 Kilowatt of solar system in the Rupununi.
Acting Headmistress of Agatash Primary, Ms. Shirlene Bancroft expressed gratitude to the Germans for the donations.
She noted that lights will assist the children in their academic performance since, without electricity, the students would have problems with their homework. The students expressed gratitude and assured that they will put the equipment to proper use. (GINA)
