Shalim’s ton helps DCC humiliate ECC in Brain Street U-15 cricket

THANKS to an unbeaten 103 from Michael Shalim, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) were able to come away with a massive 155-run victory over Everest Cricket Club (ECC) in their rescheduled Georgetown Cricket Association’s organised, Brain Street sponsored Under-15 tournament yesterday. Losing the toss and being asked to take first strike by their opponents at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, DCC scored an imposing 306 for 5 from 50 overs before declaring their innings closed, with Shalim hitting eight fours and four sixes in his ton.
Cleon McEwan offered support with 74 that was decorated with 12 fours, as Azeez Munilall took 3-39 for ECC, who were bowled out for 151 from 27.5 overs, with Munilall returning to top-score with 27 that was decorated with five fours, while Daniel Manohar took 4-39 and Shalim 3-21.
Meanwhile, the tournament will continue tomorrow with five matches featuring DCC and tournament upstarts Queen’s College at DCC, Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), and DCC ’B’ clashing at GYO, Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) facing St Stanislaus College (SSC) at GNIC and ECC and Transport Sports Club at a venue to be announced.
