GCA/Brain Street Under-15 …

QC stun Everest; wins for MSC and TSC
QUEEN’S College (QC) created a major upset in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)-organised, Brain Street-sponsored Under-15 competition when they defeated Everest Cricket Club (ECC) by five wickets at Camp Road yesterday.
Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and Transport Sports Club (TSC) also recorded commanding victories over Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and St Stanislaus College (SSC), while Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) played to a draw at DCC.
Winning the toss and asking their hosts to take first strike, QC dismissed ECC for a paltry 70, of which skipper Christopher Persaud top-scored with 12 (3×4) against the bowling of Oswin Blair who took 5-10 and Jamal Manna and Kevin Singh with 2-0 and 2-19 respectively.
Persaud returned to take 4-26 for ECC, but poor fielding by the home team, who dropped five chances, enabled QC to reach 71-5 from 16 overs in reply, with Singh returning to hit an unbeaten 19.
At the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, MSC demoralised frontrunners GCC who had won their first four games handsomely, by 104 runs.
Winning the toss and batting first, MSC were bowled out for 159 with Inceford Charles hitting three fours and one six in the top score of 40 while Tevin Campbell offered support with 24 that was decorated with five fours.
Tariq Dharamlall and Shaquille Pluck took three wickets each for 18 and 23 runs respectively for GCC, who were bowled out for 55 in reply, with Pluck’s 13 (2×4) being the lone double-figure score against the bowling of Steven Sankar who took 4-10 and Charles who returned to take 2-3 from one over.
At the GYO ground, TSC rode on the  back of an unbeaten 106-run second-wicket partnership between Sunil Singh who made 65 (8×4, 1×6) and Joshua Ram 39 (6×4), to defeat SSC by nine wickets.
SSC batted first and were bowled out for 140 from 28 overs, with Darroll Williams and Munaz Inshant top-scoring with 30 each. Williams hit three fours and one six in his innings while Inshant struck five fours and one six.
Keon Morris and Travis Marcellino took three wickets each for 21 and 44 runs while Shaka Browne took two wickets for 11 runs for TSC, who reached 141-1 from 14 overs in reply, after losing Andrew Chung (7) at 35-1.
At the DCC ground in Queenstown, the home team and GYO played to a tame draw, despite Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s resilient half-century.
DCC made a sporting declaration during their innings, calling it close at 203, of which Cleveland McEwan top-scored with 63 that was decorated with seven fours and two sixes. He received support from Kevin Rupee 48 (2×4) and Michael Shalim 26 (4×4).
Ryan Shaw took 4-39 for GYO, who were asked to score 204 from 45 overs but managed to reach 144-6 with Chanderpaul being the last batsman to go, caught at short extra cover for 67 (8×4) and even though Damion Waldron struck two fours in the penultimate over in his unbeaten 16, it was not enough for the visitors, who were forced to settle for the draw. Carlton Jacques took 2-14.
Action in the tournament will continue today
