NEW local manufacturer of bathroom tissue, Cuddles Touch, made donations to several local charitable organisations recently at the Palms Geriatric home located in Brickdam Representative of the company, located at Industrial Site, Eccles, East Bank Demerara, Shaneeza Hussein, said that the donations were necessary in light of the upcoming Easter holiday period, noting at this time it is important to remember the less fortunate in society. Promising future donations, she said the company is aware that the cost for goods and services has increased rapidly on the market.
Accompanying Ms. Hussein was Mr. Nazim Hussain of Galaxy 21 Communications, who, adding his piece, said “The intention is to give to other social and caring organizations throughout Guyana. The gesture was one entirely from the hearts of the people from Cuddles Touch Inc.”
He added that the donations were appropriate for the Easter holiday which will give the various organisations some level of comfort.
Director of the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security Wentworth Tanner, said that he was very grateful for the donations made by Cuddles Touch to the various organizations such as the Palms Geriatric Home.
He added that members of the society are always welcome to give donations. He said the Palms will continue their efforts to improve the facility. “The building that held the presentation of Cuddles Touch Inc. is their recreational room that was recently commissioned, and they will soon have a gym, a reading and Library room,” Tanner said
Tanner said the Palms will not only provide medical services, room and board for the elderly, but they also want to ensure their senior citizens who reside at the palms have access to all the modern amenities as possible that are located there.
The organisations that received the donations were the Palms Geriatric Home, the Saheed boys and girls’ orphanage, The Davis Rose School for the Handicapped, the Albouystown Dharm Shala, Joshua House Children’s Centre, The Friends of the Needy, The New Nazareth Homestead, The Guyana Redcross Society, and The Prabhu Sharan orphanage.
