AT his post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon announced that, with immediate effect, each health facility, at the appropriate levels in the regions will execute individual and specific service contracts. According to Dr. Luncheon, Cabinet, at its last statutory meeting, revisited the Health Sector Monitoring mechanism, specifically the policy of executing service contracts by which public health facilities report on their attainment of targets of patient care standards, noting that the method of individual reporting will now replace that of consolidated reports at the regional level.
Government embarked upon a reform of the health sector with the intention of decentralizing the health services to ensure that all Guyanese benefit from improved healthcare.
Inherent in the menu of reform measures was addressing the way in which regional health facilities reported on the execution of service contracts.
This latest review, Dr. Luncheon insists, will result in more specific findings at the level of individual healthcare.
